The world's billionaire population reached a record 3,795 people in 2025, marking an 8.2% increase and the strongest annual growth in five years. The total wealth of these individuals surged by 12.8% to a record $15.1 trillion. This growth was largely fueled by an artificial intelligence investment boom, with companies that invested at least $30 million in AI over the past five years outperforming peers in market capitalization growth by 23% between 2024 and 2025. Wealth concentration increased at the top of the scale. The 29 richest individuals, each worth more than $50 billion, collectively hold $4.1 trillion, representing 27% of all billionaire wealth. North America remains the region with the highest number of billionaires at 1,337, growing by 11.6% in 2025. Europe followed with 1,081 billionaires, and Asia reached 881. New York remains the city with the most billionaires at 164, followed by Hong Kong with 106. Other top cities include San Francisco, London, Singapore, Los Angeles, Beijing, Dubai, Shenzhen, and Chicago. The report noted that 2025 was a rare year where all major asset classes delivered positive returns, despite trade policy shifts in the United States.
