Hawaii ranks as the happiest state in America according to a new WalletHub study

Hawaii topped the rankings in a new study by WalletHub identifying the happiest states in the United States. The report ranked all 50 states based on 30 metrics spanning health, finances, employment, safety, social connections, and quality of life. Hawaii earned the top spot due to high scores in life satisfaction, physical health, and financial well-being. The state recorded the nation's highest reported life satisfaction and the second-lowest adult depression rate. New Jersey ranked second, followed by Utah and Idaho. The study found that the happiest states generally provide a broad mix of advantages, including healthy economies, access to healthcare, and leisure time. While financial security is a component of happiness, analysts noted that fulfilling hobbies, relationships, and opportunities for personal growth are also essential. At the bottom of the rankings, West Virginia was identified as the least happy state, followed by Louisiana and Arkansas. Experts noted that while state-level rankings provide useful insights into the conditions associated with happier populations, happiness remains a deeply personal experience that varies by individual.
