Former science teacher Matthew Johnson faces criminal charges for alleged teacher abuse at Miss Hall's School
Matthew Johnson, a 70-year-old former science teacher at Miss Hall's School, was indicted on Thursday on three criminal charges related to a growing teacher abuse scandal. The charges include assault with intent to rape and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a victim over age 14. Johnson served at the elite boarding school from 1993 to 1994 before being dismissed prior to the end of the school year. This indictment follows the arraignment of Jeannie Norris, who faces a count of reckless endangerment of a child for her alleged role in the scandal. Prosecutors allege Norris received multiple reports of inappropriate conduct between teacher Matthew Rutledge and his students. Rutledge was indicted earlier this year on three counts of rape involving two former students. Berkshire County District Attorney Timothy J. Shugrue stated that an investigation into the school's faculty conduct is ongoing.
