Vitruvias Therapeutics Inc. Issues Nationwide Recall of 30 mg Thyroid Tablets Due to Potential Super Potency
Vitruvias Therapeutics Inc. has issued a nationwide recall for a specific lot of its 30 mg thyroid tablets because the medication may be superpotent. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on August 24, following testing that confirmed the tablets could be stronger than intended, potentially causing hyperthyroidism. Symptoms of superpotent medication may include weight loss, heat intolerance, fatigue, nervousness, muscle weakness, hypertension, chest pain, and rapid heart rate. Elderly and pregnant patients are at the greatest risk for cardiac issues and maternal fetal complications. The recall affects approximately 3,655 units, with 1,955 units distributed to consumers nationwide between January and September 2025. The affected tablets are identified by NDC number 69680-166-00 and lot code 504950 with an expiration date of September 30, 2026. While no adverse health events have been reported to date, the FDA recommends that patients do not stop taking the medication without consulting a physician. Consumers can contact Vitruvias Therapeutics Inc. or H2-Pharma, LLC for further information.
