Omar GarcĂa Harfuch reports the detention of 20 members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel during a multi-state operation.
Security Secretary Omar GarcĂa Harfuch confirmed that federal forces detained 20 people linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) during simultaneous operations across 36 buildings in Hidalgo, Jalisco, and Michoacán. The operation, which involved the Army, Navy, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, and the National Guard, resulted in the seizure of firearms, drugs, 113 vehicles, and various animals. Omar GarcĂa Harfuch noted that these 32 arrests made in less than a week represent a significant push by the administration to weaken the operational and financial capabilities of the country's most powerful criminal organization. The campaign intensified following the death of the group's leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, who was designated as an organized terrorist by the administration of Donald Trump. The administration announced that the goal is to move beyond simply capturing violent individuals to systematically dismantling the security networks of the CJNG. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to reduce drug consumption in the neighboring United States.
