New York City Police Fatally Shoot Pamela Cisneros After Random Stabbings in Times Square

New York City police fatally shot 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros after she allegedly stabbed two people in a random and unprovoked attack in Times Square on Monday. Cisneros, who had a documented mental health history, allegedly stabbed a 68-year-old man and then 32-year-old Erin Piacenti within 20 seconds of each other. Piacenti, a Bank of America employee, was killed on her first day back at work following a five-month maternity leave. After the stabbings, officers confronted Cisneros for approximately four minutes. She refused multiple commands to drop the knives she held in both hands, telling officers she would rather kill them. Police deployed Tasers before discharging their service weapons. Cisneros was pronounced dead at a Bellevue Hospital. The 68-year-old man remains in stable condition. New York's attorney general has opened an investigation into the shooting. A crowdfunding campaign for Piacenti's five-month-old daughter, Madison, has raised over $800,000 to support the child as she grows up without her mother.
