Ed Markey holds significant lead over Seth Moulton in Massachusetts Democratic primary poll

Incumbent Senator Ed Markey currently holds a substantial lead over Representative Seth Moulton in the Massachusetts Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. A new poll conducted by UMass Amherst and WCVB shows that 60% of likely primary voters favor Markey, while only 32% support Moulton. This represents a significant increase from previous polling, where the lead was much narrower. Markey supporters frequently cited his progressivism and experience as key reasons for their preference, while Moulton supporters highlighted his status as a younger candidate with a more contemporary view of society. The poll also indicated that 66% of respondents trusted Markey more to represent their interests. The two candidates are scheduled to hold their final debate on Thursday at 8 p.m. on WCVB, in partnership with WBUR and The Boston Globe. Primary Election Day is September 1, with early voting beginning on August 22.
