Authorities find the body of six-year-old Michelle Dayana Henao Chavarrña after an eight-day search in Antioquia

Authorities in the municipality of Buriticá, Antioquia, located the body of six-year-old Michelle Dayana Henao Chavarrña in a rural area. The girl had been missing since August 24. Search teams utilized drones, specialized canine guides, and public force personnel to locate her. A farmer alerted authorities to an unusual presence of quails in the area, which led to the discovery of a human body in a high degree of decomposition. The body was identified as Michelle Dayana Henao Chavarrña because of a red blouse she wore on the day she disappeared, which was recorded on security cameras. The girl suffered from autism and epilepsy. Because of the state of decomposition, forensic medicine will determine the exact cause and time of death. The Governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, declared three days of mourning for the department. The local government announced a reward of up to 100 million pesos for information that clarifies the circumstances of her death.
