Donald Trump Denies Reports of US Munitions Shortages During Iran War

President Trump dismissed media reports claiming the United States is facing a shortage of munitions during the ongoing war with Iran. He described the reports as "treasonous" and stated that the military is producing weapons at levels never seen before, claiming the U.S. has virtually unlimited amounts of mid-to-high-grade ammunition. While the administration announced agreements with defense contractors to accelerate production, experts and military officials have noted a growing shortage of key weapons. Reports indicate that the U.S. has just over a third of its Patriot missile interceptors and about half of its THAAD interceptors remaining. Significant portions of offensive weapons stockpiles, including Tomahawk missiles and JASSMs, have also been utilized in the conflict. President Trump noted that the U.S. is currently stockpiling weapons for itself rather than selling to allies, though sales will resume soon. He also attributed the current supply situation to his predecessor, Joe Biden, who gave away more weapons to Ukraine and NATO at no cost than were used during the current Iran war. Experts warn that replenishing these supplies could take at least two years, and the procurement clock for many new orders will not start until Congress provides the necessary funding and authority.
