President Trump threatens to ban Bombardier sales in the U.S. unless the Canadian aircraft manufacturer builds more planes in America

President Trump threatened to block the sale of Bombardier aircraft in the United States unless the company manufactures its planes within the U.S. market. The Montreal-based manufacturer, which is a global leader in the business jet industry, responded by highlighting its existing American footprint, noting that it employs 3,500 people in the U.S. and spends $2.5 billion annually with American suppliers. Bombardier stated it is actively recruiting for 500 new positions in the United States, including a new service center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The company also noted that it manufactures wings in Texas and flight control components in California. Republican lawmakers from Kansas, where Bombardier is headquartered, defended the company. Senator Jerry Moran and Senator Roger Marshall both expressed concerns regarding the impact on Kansas jobs and pushed for the company to remain in the U.S. The administration is currently preparing options and actions regarding the company's future in the American market.
