Ousman Ceesay killed two people and himself in a shooting at a Tucson gay bar being investigated as a hate crime.

Ousman Ceesay, 44, was involved in a shooting at the Venture-N gay bar in Tucson, Arizona, which left three people dead. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday in the parking lot of the establishment. Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33, were confronted by Ceesay and shot, dying at the scene. Ceesay also suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime because Ceesay was carrying a note that listed several LGBTQIA+-associated businesses. The Tucson Police Department has increased its police presence around other gay-friendly businesses in the region. The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is currently gathering information on the incident, though it has not yet opened an official civil rights hate crime investigation. Mayor Regina Romero expressed solidarity with the families of the victims. A candlelight vigil for Siqueiros and Capara is scheduled for Wednesday at Catalina Park.
