Turkiye seeks international arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu over alleged genocide in Gaza.

Turkiye has requested an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of genocide, crimes against humanity, and torture. The request follows an incident in May where Israeli forces intercepted and fired on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a fleet of 50 vessels carrying activists and aid to Gaza. Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek stated that the justice ministry issued domestic arrest warrants on July 14, and now seeks Interpol red notices to ensure Netanyahu is held accountable internationally. While Turkiye has been a vocal critic of Israel's military actions, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office responded by calling the move a 'pathetic attempt' to intimidate Israel. The Israeli government accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of being 'antisemitic' and criticized his uncompromising stance against the war. In response, the ruling Justice and Development Party spokesman, Ömer Çelik, defended Erdogan, stating that the Netanyahu network is targeting the Turkish president because of his firm stance against the massacres and lies of the Israeli genocide.
