Two children suffered life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 281 North near Bitters Road on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. when the driver of a Toyota Highlander experienced a medical episode and lost control of the vehicle. The SUV struck a sign and crossed into the northbound lanes, colliding with a Dodge Ram, which then struck a Chevrolet Suburban and rolled several times. San Antonio police reported that the 40-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while his 15-year-old and 11-year-old passengers were critically injured. The 11-year-old girl's condition reportedly improved to non-life-threatening, while the 15-year-old girl suffered a broken ankle. All three were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The crash caused a temporary closure of all northbound lanes on U.S. Highway 281 for approximately three hours. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
