Two North Carolina Central University students were injured in a late-night shooting near campus on Sunday.

Two North Carolina Central University students, a man and a woman, were injured in a shooting that occurred just before 11 p.m. on Sunday near the campus. The victims were walking in the vicinity of Concord and Dupree streets when someone fired shots from a passing vehicle. Durham Police reported that both students suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a hospital for treatment and were subsequently released to the care of their families. Robert E. Gaddy Jr., the director of public safety and chief of the NCCU Police Department, stated that the safety of students, faculty, and staff remains a top priority. In response to the shooting, Gaddy directed increased patrols on and around campus. Police have not yet made any arrests.
