Abbas Araghchi remains undecided on resuming negotiations with the United States as the conflict over the Strait of Hormuz persists.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran has not yet decided to restart negotiations with the United States to end the ongoing war. While mediators from Qatar and Pakistan are in contact with Tehran, Araghchi blamed the United States for the return of violence following the June memorandum of understanding. The conflict is currently stalled by a feud over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping corridor that was open before the war began. As the administration announced new economic measures to pressure Iran, the United States is also seeking a diplomatic solution to keep oil and gas prices low for Americans. The administration is expanding its outreach to include European allies like Austria and Greece to help break the negotiation logjam. Meanwhile, President Trump expressed his intent to declare the Strait of Hormuz a territory of the United States once Iran is defeated. In response, Kazem Gharibabadi mocked the President's claim, asserting that the waterway remains Iranian and cannot be seized simply by an order or speech.
