The United Arab Emirates condemns Iran's drone attacks as a dangerous escalation of regional security
The United Arab Emirates has condemned Iran's recent drone attacks on the UAE and Jordan, describing the actions as a flagrant violation of the country's sovereignty and a dangerous escalation of regional security. The UAE's Ministry of Defence stated that its air force intercepted a drone approaching from Iran over the country's territorial waters. While Iranian media reported that dozens of drones were launched at the UAE's Al Menhad airbase, the UAE's Ministry of Defence denied these reports, stating the reports were false and urging the public to rely on official sources. Regional allies have expressed solidarity with the UAE. Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, stated that the GCC nations would stand united with the UAE against threats to its security. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain, also expressed his condemnation of the Iranian attacks, noting that the UAE's security is integral to the stability of the Gulf region. The UAE has reserved the right to respond to these attacks in a manner that ensures the protection of its national security and territorial integrity.
