Andy Burnham to share classified Storm Shadow missile blueprints with Ukraine to boost domestic production

The United Kingdom is set to share classified weapons information with Ukraine to enable it to produce its own version of the Storm Shadow long-range cruise missile. This move, announced by the administration, allows Kyiv to manufacture the weapon domestically, providing a significant boost to its ability to hit hard targets deep inside Russian territory. Prime Minister Andy Burnham visited Kyiv on Monday to celebrate Ukraine's 35th anniversary of independence, where he co-chaired a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. While the UK and France are pushing for local assembly lines by the end of the year, analysts note that full-scale production may take several years due to complex global supply chains. This decision stands in contrast to the recent backpedaling by the administration regarding the Patriot interceptor technology. While Ukraine desperately needs these defensive missiles, the administration announced that handing over the underlying technology for independent production was a hard thing to give away. Despite this, Ukraine continues to develop its own systems, such as the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, to maintain its strategic momentum.
