President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine has returned 103 prisoners of war from Russian captivity as part of a new prisoner exchange with Russia. The released service members include soldiers and sergeants from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, State Border Guard Service, and the National Guard, as well as the Navy and Territorial Defence Forces. These defenders served in various sectors, including Mariupol and the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipro, and Sumy fronts. Ukraine's Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, noted that the released prisoners include individuals who are seriously wounded or suffering from serious illnesses. The youngest prisoner returned is 26, while the oldest is 59. Among the returned soldiers is Mykhailo Romanovych Nahorniak, a grenade launcher operator who was considered missing since May 10, 2024. The exchange represents a significant humanitarian effort between the two nations despite the broader diplomatic process being largely stalled. Ukraine continues to work to repatriate all remaining prisoners and the bodies of fallen soldiers.
