President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Confirms Ukrainian Drone Strikes on Russian Oil Refineries and Military Bases

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian forces launched deep-range drone strikes against Russian energy and military infrastructure on August 20. The strikes targeted the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery in the Perm region, located over 1,600 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and the Marinovka military air base in the Volgograd region. These long-range operations aim to disrupt Russia's fuel supply and force Moscow into peace negotiations by bringing the consequences of the war back to Russian territory. In addition to the Perm refinery, Ukrainian forces struck the Taneco oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk and the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in the Krasnodar Krai region. These strikes have contributed to a significant impact on Russia's domestic fuel supply, causing gasoline and diesel shortages for several months during the peak demand season. The Ukrainian military continues to target Russian oil processing and exporting facilities on a nearly daily basis to diminish Moscow's ability to continue the war.
