Benjamin Netanyahu Warns Iran of Devastating Response to Potential Attacks as Western Powers Seek UN Security Council Referral

Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Iran would face a devastating response if it attacked Israel, vowing to complete the mission of toppling the Iranian regime. During a government toast in Jerusalem, Netanyahu described the Iranian regime as weak and faltering, asserting that Israel is stronger than ever. He credited the military campaign, supported by the United States, for removing the threats posed by Iran's nuclear program and ballistic missiles. Simultaneously, the United States, Britain, France, and Germany are drafting a resolution to refer Iran to the UN Security Council for failing to comply with its nuclear nonproliferation obligations. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Iran has provided no information regarding its declared nuclear materials or facilities for over a year, following attacks by the U.S. and Israel in June 2025. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that the lack of access for inspectors constitutes a proliferation risk that needs to be addressed with the utmost urgency. Iran has rejected the move, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stating that the restrictions on inspectors are a consequence of U.S. and Israeli strikes. Baghaei warned that Iran would take necessary measures if the Western powers pursued the resolution.
