The Congress of Sinaloa suspended the extraordinary session to appoint a new interim governor following the indefinite leave of Rubén Rocha Moya.

The Congress of Sinaloa suspended a last-minute extraordinary session originally scheduled to appoint a new interim governor to replace Rubén Rocha Moya. The state legislature notified members that the session would be held until further notice after Rubén Rocha Moya requested an indefinite temporary leave on August 21st last year. Manuel de Jesús Guerrero Verdugo, President of the Permanent Commission, confirmed that the Committee for Constitutional Points will present the proposal for the user's transfer. While political figures such as Julio Berdegué Sacristñn and Marúe Teresa Guerra Ochoa are being considered as potential successors, Manuel de Jesús Guerrero Verdugo stated that these are currently mere speculations. Outside the State Government headquarters in Culiacán, citizens and political actors gathered to demand the removal of the entire state cabinet. The protesters requested that the new interim governor have no ties to the group of Rubén Rocha Moya.
