Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin on Saturday to discuss efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. The administration announced that the envoys will travel to Kyiv on Sunday for their first visit to the Ukrainian capital during this peace process. To facilitate the talks, Vladimir Putin ordered a three-day halt on Russian strikes against Kyiv starting at midnight. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is prepared to refrain from strikes on Moscow until Monday. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also noted that Russia carried out demonstrative strikes on Kyiv and Boryspil airports overnight, which he attributed to preparations for the U.S. delegation's arrival. President Trump described the envoys as great negotiators who are bringing a proposal to end the war. While the administration announced the envoys' visit, Russian officials indicated that Moscow is not currently in the mood to compromise. The envoys' visit comes as both sides have intensified aerial attacks, with Ukraine struggling to repel some strikes due to a shortage of air defense systems.
