The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier arrived in the port of Laem Chabang, Thailand, on Wednesday for its first full rest-and-relaxation port call after a record 286 days at sea. The warship, which spent months in combat and blockade operations against Iran, appeared covered in rust from bow to stern. Navy experts noted that rust is expected after 60 days of continuous operation and requires significant preservation work to remove. The long deployment led to reports of deteriorating living conditions, including food shortages and morale problems. While the ship's captain admitted to a lack of fresh fruit and vegetables, he stated that reports of poor conditions were largely exaggerated. President Trump dismissed concerns regarding the length of the deployment, stating it was not nearly long enough. The 5,000 sailors on board have begun exploring Pattaya, a city known for its nightlife and sex tourism. Local businesses, such as the American Eagle store, reported a significant spike in sales as sailors sought simple comforts like new socks and pedicures. Two unidentified sailors from the ship were sent back to the vessel after a drunken altercation in Pattaya's Walking Street. Thai police chief Colonel Anek Srathongyoo reported the incident as trivial, noting the sailors did not violate any Thai law.
