Nine law enforcement officers were injured when a second-story wooden deck collapsed underneath them while they were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Jacob Alexander Munoz. The incident occurred on July 21 in Huntsville, Missouri, as the task force stood in a line outside an apartment door. The deck gave way suddenly, causing the officers to fall straight down within seconds. Steven Lewis, U.S. marshal for the eastern district of Missouri, confirmed that seven of the officers were treated and released from the hospital for injuries including broken bones. The task force included members of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, the Moberly Police Department, and the North Missouri Drug Task Force, working in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service. Jacob Alexander Munoz was a 26-year-old man who failed to register as a sex offender. The arrest took place during Operation Adam’s Watch, a multi-week enforcement operation marking the 20th anniversary of the Adam Walsh Act.
