Julie Pierre Recovers Missing Cinnamon Rolls After Uber Courier Is Arrested by Border Patrol
Julie Pierre, the owner of a Florida bakery, initially reported that approximately 350 of her viral cinnamon rolls were stolen during an Uber delivery. The order, valued at $3,100, was destined for a local farmers market but never arrived. Pierre shared the apparent theft with her social media followers, which drew significant attention to the missing pastries. Sunrise police later determined that a theft did not occur. The delivery driver, Ivan Dario Rico Molano, was stopped by U.S. Border Patrol on his way to the destination. Molano, a Colombian citizen, admitted to being in the United States without legal authorization and was taken into custody. The vehicle containing the cinnamon rolls remained behind, and a third party was eventually allowed to take possession of the car. Police recovered the cinnamon rolls five days after they were supposed to be delivered. However, Pierre noted that the pastries could no longer be sold and had to be discarded. She stated that the bakery still suffered a loss of $3,100. Pierre subsequently apologized for the initial theft report and pledged to donate a portion of her proceeds to help pay for Molano's legal counsel.
