The volcano Popocatátepetl remains in phase 2 of the Volcanic Alert System as it emits water vapor and ash.
The volcano Popocatátepetl registered six low-intensity emissions of water vapor, volcanic gases, and light ash. The National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred) classified the volcano under phase 2 of the Yellow Alert, which indicates frequent local volcanic seismicity and sporadic emissions. Authorities in Amarillo are also maintaining the volcanic alert system in phase 2, advising the population to remain attentive to official alerts. The Protection Civil Coordination forecasted that wind dispersal of ash from Popocatátepetl could be directed toward the west, including the State of Mexico and Morelos. Residents in nearby areas may experience a light fall of ash and incandescent fragments.
