Panorama Produce Recalls 302 Boxes of Martina-Brand Mangoes Sold at Walmart Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination
Panorama Produce has initiated a voluntary recall of 302 boxes of Martina-brand mangoes sold at select Walmart locations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. The recall was prompted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detecting Salmonella in mangoes grown on the same farm as the recalled fruit, though the sampled mangoes were not distributed in U.S. commerce. Distributed between August 10 and August 21, the affected mangoes are packaged in nine-count boxes. Consumers can identify the recalled product by a light blue Agrofepac sticker labeled "Produce of Mexico" with PLU number 4584 and UPC number 07503061948050. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the recall. However, the administration announced that Salmonella can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Consumers are urged to discard the recalled mangoes or return them to the place of purchase. Anyone who believes they may have become ill after consuming the product should contact a healthcare provider.
