Walmart opens 100th company-owned EV fast-charging site in Monument, Colorado

Walmart has reached a significant milestone by opening its 100th company-owned and operated electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging site. The new station is located at a Walmart Supercenter in Monument, Colorado, bringing the retailer's charging network to 100 stores across 20 states. Shayne Wahlmeier, senior vice president of Walmart Energy, stated that the broad footprint positions the company to make EV charging more accessible to communities while expanding service options. The network features chargers capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power, with both CCS and NACS connectors to ensure compatibility with most vehicles on the road. The company-owned model ensures that Walmart maintains accountability for uptime and maintenance. By integrating the charging experience into the Walmart app, the retailer aims to provide a reliable and effortless experience for customers. Walmart+ members also receive discounted charging rates as the network continues to expand toward a goal of thousands of locations by 2030.
