City officials noted that the replacement of this bridge will be costly and may take months to complete. Meanwhile, in Muncie, the White River reached a crest of 18.64 feet, the highest in 89 years. The flooding, which was likely caused by a derecho, displaced roughly 1,000 people. While many areas are seeing waters recede, the National Weather Service warns that rivers remain high and dangerous.
