An Elizabethton Police Department cruiser struck a bicyclist on East F Street while attempting to turn left.
An Elizabethton Police Department cruiser struck a 54-year-old bicyclist on East F Street while attempting to turn left onto East Doe Avenue. The Tennessee Highway Patrol released a revised report on the crash, which occurred on Monday. The bicyclist was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Preliminary reports indicated that the bicyclist crossed from the Tweetsie Trail and failed to stop at a posted sign. Troopers noted that the cruiser hit the cyclist while making the turn. No charges are pending against either the officer or the bicyclist. State troopers were provided with dash camera footage of the incident.
