Kyrsten Sinema admits to multiple sexual encounters with married bodyguard Matthew Ammel in alienation-of-affection lawsuit
Former U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema has detailed a romantic and sexual relationship with her former security guard, Matthew Ammel, in court filings for an alienation-of-affection lawsuit. Heather Ammel, the ex-wife of Matthew Ammel, is suing Sinema for allegedly breaking up their 14-year marriage. During a July 31 deposition, Kyrsten Sinema acknowledged that the affair began in May 2024. She described several trysts, including a late-night kiss and sexual encounter in Napa, California, and another in New York City during the wedding of CNN anchor Jessica Dean. Sinema also noted that the relationship involved extensive communication through phone calls and encrypted messaging apps while she was still serving in the Senate. Sinema is currently fighting the suit and has moved to dismiss the case, arguing that the court lacks personal jurisdiction because the majority of their encounters took place outside of North Carolina. The case will proceed to an evidentiary hearing on August 19.
