Wendy's Appoints Tariq Hassan as Chief Marketing and Customer Growth Officer to Drive Brand Turnaround

Wendy's has appointed Tariq Hassan as its new chief marketing and customer growth officer to lead the brand's marketing efforts and reignite customer loyalty. Hassan, who previously served as the U.S. chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald's, succeeds Lindsay Radkoski. The appointment is a strategic move by the administration of the company to address six straight quarters of declining same-store sales, including a recent 7% drop in the second quarter of 2026. CEO Bob Wright stated that the chain has become over-reliant on one-off promotions rather than a consistent brand narrative. Wright noted that the company has also sacrificed ingredient quality for cost savings, leading to an opportunity to rebuild the menu at the individual ingredient level. Under Hassan's leadership, Wendy's aims to sharpen its marketing and move toward profitable growth. The chain is currently executing a five-point strategy focused on food quality, operations, store upgrades, marketing, and digital sales to stabilize the brand's position in the fast-food market.
