Kaled Rosales Salazar wins Mexico City aura farming battle by mimicking a horse lasso

Kaled Rosales Salazar won a recent aura farming competition in Mexico City, securing a prize of 3,000 pesos. The competition, which took place in front of the Palace of Fine Arts, saw Rosales Salazar use a large white sandal as a prop to mimic lassoing and leading his opponent, Carlos Irving Quintana, like a horse. This phenomenon, born on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, involves teenagers competing to demonstrate their charisma and style, referred to as "aura." The term "farming" originates from video games, where players repeat actions to accumulate resources. In these battles, participants aged 14 to 20 compete by recreating viral memes and gestures, such as the "Siuuu" leap and "mewing." While some adults and political figures, including a mayor in Honduras, have criticized the trend as a sign of popular culture being dumbed down, others see it as a positive way to encourage face-to-face interaction among a generation primarily used to digital communication.
