Laura Loomer stated that a Pentagon insider revealed Fox News blacklisted Hegseth in retaliation for the department's demand that news outlets sign a pledge to adhere to specific reporting restrictions. The dispute arose when the Pentagon required outlets to sign a new press corps agreement and limited travel to one correspondent per trip. The administration announced that the Department of War chose Lucas Tomlinson for these trips while rejecting Jennifer Griffin. Fox News joined several other major networks in publicly refusing to sign the new access rules. During the interview that marked Hegseth's final appearance on the network, he described the press as 'disgusting' for attempting to solicit information.
