President Volodymyr Zelenskyy faces increasing pressure as investigations into his inner circle reveal significant corruption issues within the Ukrainian government. While there is no public evidence that Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself has committed corruption offences, the concentration of authority in the Office of the President has created an environment where patronage and conflicts of interest flourish. Key figures like Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Presidential Office, have faced significant allegations. Yermak was named a suspect in an alleged criminal organisation that laundered approximately $10.5 million. Additionally, Operation Midas revealed allegations of $100 million in kickbacks related to state nuclear energy procurement, involving former business associate Timur Mindich. The administration's attempt to subordinate independent anti-corruption institutions in July 2025 was met with immediate public protest. However, the government's subsequent reversal demonstrated Ukraine's growing institutional maturity.
