Ukrainian soldiers are participating in a Norway-led multinational training effort called Operation Legio at a purpose-built camp in southeastern Poland. Maj. John, the S3 Operations Officer in charge of synchronizing the training, noted that while Ukraine already possesses excellent drone and electronic warfare education, the program focuses on what the Ukrainian military specifically requests. Instead of learning to pilot drones from scratch, troops are learning to incorporate drones into tactics and planning. Brigadier Atle Molde, commander of Task Force Legio, stated that Ukrainian instructors act as subject matter experts, sharing their battle-won experience with Western allies. This collaborative approach allows Western militaries to learn from Ukraine's creative use of modern technology. For example, Lt. Col. Ben Irwin-Clark of the Irish Guards noted that the battalion is adopting drone lessons directly from Ukrainian experts to prepare for the future of warfare. The training includes medical, engineering, and infantry courses, ensuring soldiers are prepared for the realistic operational environment they will return to.
