Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando Recovers from Heart Attack

Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando suffered a heart attack on Saturday morning while playing a pickup basketball game. The 43-year-old Democratic nominee for county executive was transported to The George Washington University Hospital, where doctors placed a stent. Jawando's office stated that doctors are confident in his full recovery due to his strong overall health. He is expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week to recover at home with his wife, Michele, and their children. While Jawando will adjust his office activities and schedule in the coming weeks based on doctor's guidance, his office remains fully operational. Council President Natali Fani-González stated that Jawando is making steady progress and remains in good spirits. She noted that he will temporarily participate in council meetings remotely. County Executive Marc Elrich, who endorsed Jawando, expressed relief that Jawando received immediate care and offered well wishes for a speedy recovery.
