Pamela Cisneros killed by police after fatally stabbing Bank of America Vice President Erin Piacenti in Times Square

Police officers shot and killed Pamela Cisneros, a 49-year-old woman from Queens, after she fatally stabbed 32-year-old Erin Piacenti in Times Square on Monday. Piacenti, a Bank of America Vice President, was killed after Cisneros pulled two knives from a bag and stabbed her and a 68-year-old man within 20 seconds of each other. The 68-year-old man remains in stable condition. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch reported that Cisneros engaged in a four-minute standoff with officers, refusing to command-driven requests to drop her weapons. During the interaction, Cisneros told officers, "I’m not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you," and continued to advance toward them. After tasers proved ineffective, two officers fired their guns, striking and killing Cisneros. Cisneros had a documented mental health history with the NYPD, involving several incidents in 2018 and 2019. Her brother, Patrick Peralta, noted that she had struggled with bipolar disorder and postpartum depression for over 20 years. While she had shown recent improvement with medication, she was reportedly stressed and had not attended a regular family dinner for the first time in several weeks.
