The Gobernación del Valle del Cauca, the AlcaldÃa de Cali, and the national government have established a unified strategic plan to accelerate the recovery of the region following an earthquake on August 10. Dilian Francisca Toro, the governor of the Valle del Cauca, confirmed the department's commitment to provide priority resources to Cali to help residents rebuild their homes. Juan Manuel Muñoz, the manager designated by the presidency for the reconstruction of the Valle del Cauca, confirmed that the region will work as a unified institutional block. Roldanillo was selected as the pilot municipality for the reconstruction process, where demolition of buildings with safety issues has already begun. The plan includes providing materials and official craftsmen to assist with the self-construction of new houses. The regional authorities also agreed to develop a CONPES document to incorporate high-competitiveness projects into the National Development Plan. These projects include the CercanÃas Train, the deepening of the Buenaventura access channel, and the bidding process for the Cali international airport. A permanent work table has been established between the regional government, the local government, and business sector spokespeople to ensure the follow-up of these agreements.
