The Federal Aviation Administration reported that eastern transit hubs such as Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Charlotte, and Orlando experienced significant disruptions. New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport recorded the highest number of delays, with 117 reported, and 25 cancellations. JetBlue Airways was the hardest-hit carrier, experiencing nearly 100 delays and 25 cancellations. Industry analysts attribute these disruptions to a lack of spare seating capacity, exacerbated by rising fuel costs and air traffic controller shortages. Experts recommend that passengers monitor flight statuses through airline apps and rebook immediately upon cancellation. Travelers are advised to also allow extra layover time when connecting through busy airports and keep essential items in carry-on luggage to prepare for unexpected delays.
