Southern California Faces Wild Weather and Big Surf for Labor Day Weekend

Southern California is expected to experience varied weather conditions during the Labor Day weekend, ranging from heavy rain to big surf. Tropical Storm Marie, which has the potential to develop into a hurricane, is expected to bring rainfall to the region from Saturday through early Monday. Meteorologists indicate that while the rain may occur in periods, it could range from light showers to moderate rain depending on the storm's path. Coastal areas will see significant surf, with waves in the 5- to 8-foot range expected. Lifeguards have warned that conditions will be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers, particularly at south-facing beaches like Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. Some areas, such as Aliso Beach, may experience flooding due to high tides and erosion. Inland regions will remain warm, with temperatures reaching the 80s and 90s. The San Bernardino mountain region is projected to stay cooler with temperatures around 70 degrees. While the ocean may be hazardous, several inland events are scheduled, including the Orange International Street Fair and two regional rodeos.
