Zymire Hughes arrested in Las Vegas for harassing pedestrians in Philadelphia while wearing a doll-style mask
Zymire Hughes, a 22-year-old man, was arrested in Las Vegas on August 25 by U.S. Marshals. He is accused of harassing and terrorizing pedestrians in Center City Philadelphia during a 15-to-20-minute period on August 12. While wearing a distinctive Chucky doll-style mask, Hughes allegedly chased and accosted at least six people near City Hall and Dilworth Plaza. During one encounter, Hughes allegedly asked a woman if she was "ready to die" while holding a mobile phone in his other hand. In another instance, a female jogger sustained a leg injury while attempting to run away from him. Investigators believe Hughes may have been filming the interactions for social media content. Hughes was extradited back to Philadelphia and is being held on a $100,000 bail. He faces charges including terroristic threats, harassment, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and intimidation. District Attorney Larry Krasner stated that Hughes has a troubling criminal history and will be pursued for incarceration.
