Firefighters battle the 50-acre Morgan Fire in Contra Costa County as residents are advised to prepare for potential evacuation.
Firefighters from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire are battling the Morgan Fire, a 50-acre vegetation blaze in Contra Costa County. The fire broke out Friday afternoon near Morgan Territory Road and Marsh Creek Road, spreading through rugged terrain east of Clayton. The administration announced that residents in zones CCC-249 and CCC-250, located between Morgan Territory Regional Preserve and Mount Diablo State Park, should prepare to evacuate. While no official evacuation order has been issued yet, officials advised residents to gather essential items and be ready to leave if conditions worsen. As of Friday evening, the fire was approximately 10% contained, with a retardant line established around 75% of the perimeter. Ground crews and eight Type 1 air tankers, supported by four helicopters, are working to manage the flames. No structures have been damaged and no injuries have been reported. PG&E confirmed there are currently no power outages, though the utility is monitoring the situation closely.
