While the damage was extensive, Collins noted that the utility's leak rate remains 36% lower than the national average. The repair process involves welding a new steel pipe onto the existing line, a task expected to take approximately 16 hours. Officials aim to reopen the stretch of Sunset Boulevard by Monday.
