Kevin Baillie Sues Netflix-Owned Eyeline Studios After Being Terminated for Disclosing Physician-Supervised Ketamine Therapy
Kevin Baillie, the former vice president and head of creative at Eyeline Studios, filed a lawsuit against the Netflix-owned visual effects division. Baillie claimed he lost his $1.1 million-a-year position after revealing he underwent physician-supervised ketamine therapy to treat clinical depression during a company retreat. While the company launched an investigation into his comments, the lawsuit alleges the investigation suggested suspicion of recreational drug use rather than medical treatment. Baillie further alleges that Eyeline Studios CEO Jeff Shapiro fostered an alcohol-friendly workplace, including keeping a bar in his office. The complaint also notes that Baillie was denied up to one year of severance pay. Netflix reported second-quarter revenue of $12.56 billion, which was slightly below Wall Street expectations. Despite the lower revenue, the company topped analyst estimates for earnings per share.
