President Trump notes that US military weapons stockpiles remain in good shape despite significant depletion of air defense missiles.
The administration announced that the US military's primary air defense systems, specifically Patriot and THAAD interceptors, have seen a significant depletion in their stockpiles following recent conflict with Iran. According to data from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the US military has fired more than 60% of its key interceptors, leaving fewer than 827 Patriot missiles and 278 THAAD missiles. President Trump stated that the inventories are in very good shape, though he expressed a desire to replenish the more sophisticated munitions. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth noted that the previous administration failed to replace munitions in real time while sending them to Ukraine. While the Pentagon is accelerating production to address the shortages, analysts warn that it could take years to fully replenish the high-end munitions. The administration maintains that the military remains the most powerful in the world and possesses a deep arsenal of capabilities to protect national interests.
