Andrew Arrabaca was arrested after using fireworks and flammable liquid to start a fire outside a federal building in Lower Manhattan.

Andrew Arrabaca, a 43-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was taken into custody Monday morning after igniting a fire outside 26 Federal Plaza. The suspect, described as an anti-ICE rioter, doused a stairwell with gasoline and ignited a bundle of fireworks, sending smoke and flames up the building's facade. FBI New York Assistant Director James Barnacle stated that Arrabaca arrived with "bad intentions," carrying two axes, a machete, several knives, and airsoft guns. The suspect wheeled a cart featuring the slogan "ICE off our streets" and carried a manifesto. While the fire was quickly extinguished before reaching the interior, three people sustained minor injuries, including two government employees. The FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is currently investigating the incident. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the event "deeply disturbing" and pledged that the administration will continue to ensure the safety of New Yorkers by holding those who threaten the city accountable.
