Taylor Farms de Mexico is recalling iceberg lettuce products after a Cyclospora parasite outbreak linked to Taco Bell restaurants.
Taylor Farms de Mexico is voluntarily recalling several iceberg lettuce products after federal health officials identified a Cyclospora parasite contamination. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the CDC are investigating the outbreak, which has affected consumers in five states. While the parasite has caused 1,644 illnesses and 94 hospitalizations, no deaths have been reported. The contamination was linked to shredded iceberg lettuce used at Taco Bell restaurants. Consequently, Taco Bell has stopped using the specific supplier in select states. Walmart has also taken precautionary measures by removing Marketside bagged iceberg lettuce products from stores in Georgia, Florida, and 26 other states. The affected products include 12-ounce and 24-ounce bags of Marketside iceberg salad, as well as 8-ounce and 16-ounce bags of shredded iceberg lettuce. Consumers who purchased these items are advised to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company confirmed that its branded salad kits remain unaffected by the outbreak.
