Clifford Joseph Boisa was identified as the victim of a deadly boat capsizing in the San Francisco Bay.
Clifford Joseph Boisa, a 79-year-old retired reserve deputy from Sutter County, was confirmed dead after a 50-foot cabin cruiser capsized in the San Francisco Bay on Tuesday. The vessel, which was carrying 20 people and a dog, was hit by a wave and rolled over near Alcatraz Island. While 16 people were successfully rescued, three individuals remain missing. The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for the missing survivors on Wednesday evening after covering over 800 square miles of water. Captain Jared S. Toczko noted that while the search is paused pending further developments, the possibility of survivors remains. The boat is currently estimated to be approximately 130 feet below the surface. San Francisco Police Commander Brien Hoo stated that officials are evaluating the feasibility of using divers or underwater drones to salvage the vessel, noting that depths exceeding 120 feet present significant challenges for human divers. The boat was carrying family members and friends who were gathered to celebrate the life of Boisa's niece.
