Sharif Ahmadzai Accused of Murdering Scottish Aid Worker Elisabeth Ross in Greece
Greek authorities have charged Sharif Ahmadzai, a 26-year-old Afghan boxer, with homicide with intent for the death of Elisabeth Ross, a 38-year-old Scottish aid worker. Ross was discovered dead in a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens on July 18. Sharif Ahmadzai admitted to transporting Ross's body in a suitcase and withdrawing over €10,000 from her bank accounts. However, he denies the murder charge, claiming he moved the body to avoid being blamed. His wife, Alaina Hall, provided key evidence, including location data that placed him and Ross at the same apartment on July 15, the day Ross is believed to have died. Hall also noted that Ahmadzai appeared unusually happy and wealthy after the incident, having used Ross's credit cards. Police are currently investigating the motive, considering whether a confrontation occurred over stolen items or if Ross spurned Ahmadzai's advances. Forensic experts believe Ross was likely asphyxiated, though the autopsy was initially inconclusive due to advanced decay.
